Clubs

Clubs and school organizations are formed at Stonybrook Middle School as student interest develops.  Listed below are current clubs and orgnizations with a brief description of each one.  Students should listen for intercom announcements concerning organizational meetings.

Academic Pursuit is a competitive academic game that consists of two teams of at least five players on each team.  Academic Pursuit is a mixture of trivia and The Brain Game on WTHR.  The students are asked questions over several different categories such as science, history, bible, math, literature, grammar, current events and many more.  The first contestant to buzz in with the correct answer earns a point for his or her team.  Each grade level competes separately with its own coach.  If you like trivia, then you will love Academic Pursuit!

The mission for Stonybrook's Greenskins Ecology Club is to increase both staff and student awareness of factors and habits that affect our local and global environment.  It is our hope that by increasing awareness we will begin to develop a sense of accountability for our own actions.

Stonybrook's Robotics Club offers students the opportunity to learn about different types of robots and acquire knowledge in the design, building and programing of robots through LEGO and VEX design systems.  We work hand-in-hand with the Walker Career Center/Warren Central High School Robotics Team and compete in local, regional, state and national competitions.

SMSTV is Stonybrook's premier television network open to 7th and 8th grade students.  SMSTV's primary purpose is to provide our school with school news, sports, announcements and much more.  Applications are submitted in the spring for the upcoming school year.

Speech/Debate Team prepare students to discuss and debate current controversial issues.  Students research and explore both sides of an issue and prepare an argument for discussion.  By examining both sides of an issue students will also learn tolerance.

The Stonybrook Theater Arts Club is dedicated to offering students a chance to express themselves through drama.  Students learn about Greek drama, Shakespeare, Restoration period comedies, modern satire and much more.  Each year, at least one production is performed using a compilation of scenes and musical numbers from a variety of genres and types of theater.

Stonybrook's Greenskins Ecology Club partners up with Nike to recycle old shoes into high quality sport surfaces.

Robotic's Team members show off their rocket at a competition.

SMSTV newsteam members prepare for the daily news.
