Twenty-two Stonybrook student council members accompanied Mrs. Pam Griffin, principal, to the Statehouse this week to participate in the 14th Annual Holocaust Observance and Youth Summit.  The guest speaker was Mrs. Shachar, from the Ghetto Fighters' House Museum; she traveled all the way from Israel for the event.  Students toured the Statehouse and learned more about the Holocaust and those who were affected by the event.

Yvonna Elliott, 8th grader, stated: “I think it was important to be able to go because we learned about children and how they were affected by the Holocaust.  It was very shocking to hear all the stories.”

Clifton Jett, 8th grader, said: “It was a fun and interesting field trip.  I learned a lot about the Holocaust.  It is important to me because I was able to learn more about the past.”
